In my painting "Revealed," I explore the concept of looking beyond outward appearances to uncover the hidden essence within. The mandarin, with its rough, bumpy exterior, symbolizes how initial perceptions can often conceal the true nature of something—or someone. By peeling back the layers, we discover the soft, sweet, and juicy interior, which represents the richness that lies beneath the surface.

This work captures a specific, transient moment in the mandarin's existence, where the act of peeling reveals its inner beauty and vitality. The contrast between the textured outer skin and the succulent flesh invites the viewer to reflect on the importance of delving deeper, both in life and in art.
